Dr. Wilnia Aristilde, Ed.D.

Dr. Wilnia Aristilde is a distinguished educator with over 25 years of experience dedicated to shaping the minds of future generations. She holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University and has committed her career to strengthening instructional practice, supporting multilingual learners, and empowering educators to create transformative classroom experiences.

Her work is rooted in fostering meaningful “Ah Ha Moments” that ignite curiosity, confidence, and long term academic growth in students.

Professional Experience

Dr. Aristilde began her career serving in bilingual programming before expanding her impact within public school systems. She currently teaches high school students, including international learners who are bridging academic gaps, within the Gwinnett County Public School System.

Her work focuses on supporting students facing complex academic and linguistic challenges. She specializes in helping multilingual learners develop English language proficiency while simultaneously strengthening the academic skills necessary for graduation and post secondary success.

In addition to her K through 12 experience, Dr. Aristilde serves as an adjunct professor at Augusta University. She teaches graduate level courses in Cultural Issues and Ethics as well as Methods, Materials, Assessment, and ESOL in Education. Through her work in higher education, she prepares future educators to effectively serve diverse student populations.

Focus on Multilingual Learners

A significant portion of Dr. Aristilde’s professional work centers on immigrant and multilingual student populations. She understands the academic, cultural, and systemic barriers many families encounter and works to help schools build inclusive systems that support both students and parents.

Her doctoral research reflects this commitment. Her dissertation, Lakay, Lekol, Legliz: A Phenomenological Study of First Generation Haitian Parents’ Perceived Barriers to Local School Involvement with Elementary Age Children, explores the intersection of home, school, and community engagement. This research highlights the importance of authentic partnerships between schools and immigrant families.

Leadership and Community Impact

Dr. Aristilde is the Founder of Fleurmond Academy, established in 2023 to empower educators, strengthen instructional systems, and support multilingual learners and families.

She has served in instructional leadership roles including grade level chairperson and committee co chair positions. She facilitates professional development workshops for educators and mentors student teachers and new educators.

Her leadership also extends into community engagement initiatives, where she has directed educational programming, supported family engagement efforts, and contributed to service driven educational initiatives focused on equity and access.
